Singer, Plating, and a Rainbow

I have my late grandmother’s 66 year old sewing machine. I’ve been meaning to work on it and learn on it, but haven’t had the time to do so. Of course, part of my on-going theremin project needed some sewing…

My Grandmother took amazing care of her things. She was completely thorough, saving notes, old parts, everything.

In the manual, she wrote down when she oiled the gears and lubricated the motor. This is what was written in the margins:

Lubricated Motor June 2, 1948 + Oiled Machine thoroughly
Ditto for both Jan 13, 1950
” ” ” March 20, 51
Oiled machine Nov 1, 51
oiled mach, lub. motor June 10, 55
oiled mach, lub. motor Aug, 56

Today I got to add, “oiled machine August 4, 2007 13 years!!!”

I cried. I’m teary right now. I could feel something special when I was oiling the machine. It felt amazing.

I want to take some really beautiful pictures of it.

It worked great, and I made some antenna slips for a set I’m selling to a man in SC who owns an antenna-less RCA theremin.

I made the box for it last week.

I have 7 plated sets of antenna: 2 for myself, 2 for RCA owners, and 3 to sell to people who are doing what I did.

I saw a double rainbow a few days ago. It filled the whole dark sky and was glorious.
